Your shop list:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • Olive oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Mix until well combined.

  2. Add the warm water to the dry ingredients, and mix until a sticky dough forms.

  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 12-18 hours. The dough should double in size and be dotted with bubbles.

  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place a cast iron skillet in the oven to heat up.

  5. Meanwhile, dust a clean surface with flour and turn out the risen dough. Gently shape it into a ball, being careful not to deflate it.

  6. Once the skillet is hot, remove it from the oven and drizzle a little olive oil into the skillet. Place the dough ball into the skillet and cover with a lid or aluminum foil.

  7. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid or foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crusty.

  8. Use a spatula to carefully remove the bread from the skillet and let it cool on a wire rack.

  9. Once the bread has cooled, slice and serve with butter, jam, or your favorite toppings.

Enjoy your delicious homemade bread, fresh from the oven!
